What are your weight-control goals?

I plan to run every week and continue to do weights and exercise... I'm going to live the life of a healthy person!

What is your motivation for losing weight?

My motivation for losing weight has changed along the journey. Last year I noticed that my sister had gained heaps of weight... she was always the skinny one and we talked about it and I realised she had always struggled with her weight too. We grew up with mum joining every weight-loss program, she even used to have a Fat-a-gram birthday card on the fridge to stop her from eating to much. I never really realised what impact this had on my weight issues till then. I too now have a daughter, she is 10 and I was so worried I was raising her the same way we were raised... I decided to change and do it properly once, so she never ever had to see me struggle. She has seen me change my weight and my life but she has seen me do it with health and exercise... NOT JUST ANOTHER SPARE OF THE MOMENT WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM.

What is your weight-loss method?

I started doing another weight-loss program, but I realised that I needed to do something that I could continue with, so I started counting calories with the help of CK. I haven't been perfect, often going over my calorie target, but I have balanced that out with exercise and the C25k program. the C25k program has been my life saver... I would not be here today having lost 38 kg without it.

What obstacles have you encountered while losing weight?

My husband still eats crap every night.... this is one of my biggest obstacles, he is also not an exerciser and so does not understand my need or want to run. I don't have a license so exercising has been a challenge, I don't have a gym membership, I can't afford one so I have just lost weight with the minimal amount of equipment I can. We live off of one income, so money is a bit tight at times.

What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?

Stick to it. Realise it won't happen overnight. Continually increase your exercise to help minimise plateaus and well the usual- keep a diary (include feelings) drink water, have protein for breakfast, increase overall protein intake, eat 5-6 meals a day and if you fall of the wagon... GET STRAIGHT BACK ON!!!!!

How do you feel now that you're achieving success?

I feel amazing, my health is 100 times better, my fitness 200% better, my life is so much better too. My healthy life is rubbing off on those around me too. My husband has given up smoking and the kids are exercising and enjoying it. I'm no longer on blood pressure medication, I fit in size ten clothes and have never ever been this weight as an adult.
