What are your weight-control goals?

I would really like to hit 20 kg's lost. Initially that was my goal within a year, but I missed it by that much! Now as I begin the next year, I am reassessing and looking at different goals, be it losing another jean size, reducing BMI or percentage of body fat. I'll get back to you on this one!

What is your motivation for losing weight?

My biggest motivation is my son, who is 18 months old. I want to be fit and healthy to not only be able to keep up with him, but to make sure I am around long into his life. What really triggered my life changes was seeing photos of myself at my 30th Birthday, (post baby) weighing almost the same as when I was 8 months pregnant!

What is your weight-loss method?

I have cut out the bad snacks. I got into such bad habits being a new stay at home mum. I would put the baby to bed and then sit down with a cuppa and a naughty snack. My meals are also smaller. I exercise everyday, be it a 25 min walk, or a step class at the gym. Also I think it's really important to track your eating, CalorieKing is exceptional for this.

What obstacles have you encountered while losing weight?

Hard to keep on track sometimes, especially when you have lots of special occasions and I used to think that every special occasion was an excuse to over do it. But now I look at things differently. Finding time to exercise is such a load of bollocks. There is ALWAYS time to exercise, you just have to find something that you like, and fit it into your day. You can do it!

What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?

Stay motivated. Look forward, not back. If you have a bad day, forget it and move onto the next day. Educate yourself on what foods are worse than others, so you can make choices. If you don't understand what you are putting in your mouth and how it effects you, you will never lose the weight, or more importantly, keep it off! And check in your weight, make sure you check in every week even if you know you have had a bad one, you can't hide from this thing you have to tackle it head on!

How do you feel now that you're achieving success?

Brilliant. I am so happy and proud of what I have done. It has taken a long time but i am doing it. There were times when I thought, I can't do this, but I had to take a step back and say, hang on, I AM doing this! And I can keep doing it now that I know how.
