What are your weight-control goals?
My goal is to get to the middle of the healthy weight range for my height, and be able to maintain that as I get older.
What is your motivation for losing weight?
Definitely to be healthier. At my heaviest, even going on holiday was hard work. I felt uncomfortable, tired, and didn't have the energy to do some of the things I wanted to. My husband and I are on the verge of becoming "empty nesters" and are dreaming about all the holidays and travel we would like to do, but we want to be fit and healthy enough to enjoy all that, and to be able to do any activity we want to in our travels. And we'd like to be healthy enough to enjoy our lives for as long as possible.
What is your weight-loss method?
Less energy in, more energy out. Daily exercise is now a way of life, as is more healthy eating. Increasing fibre in our diets has been very important, along with reducing fats.

What obstacles have you encountered while losing weight?
Initially finding the time and continual motivation to exercise wasn't easy, but with my husband also losing weight, we managed to keep each other going. After some time I realised a real desire to get out and move every day had snuck over me! I became conscious of how good I felt after strenuous physical activity and decided it must be a normal part of my life now. Now social occasions and restaurant dinners are definitely the biggest challenge. However, I am learning to choose the more healthy options, and how to balance out the rest of the week.
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?
Plan ahead, be prepared, measure everything and research! Take time to find the tastiest healthy foods that you can enjoy. Your diet can be satisfying and tasty without being loaded with calories and fat. Yes, it takes some work to find out what is available and what choices are better than others, but its worth the effort. Take the time to learn the contents of everything you eat and drink and what your body actually needs to be healthy.
How do you feel now that you're achieving success?
I feel amazing. I am fitter and stronger than I have ever been in my life, even as a teen. I am doing more exercise, and more importantly regular exercise, than I ever have before. I have more energy, less aches and pains, I sleep better, and I feel able to cope with a busy work schedule with less stress. The feeling of achievement every week has kept my motivation high. Now I feel as if I can achieve anything if I set my mind to it.
