What are your weight-control goals?
After having three children in four years I had really packed on the weight! I had tried many different weight-loss methods, and in early 2008 I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). I knew I needed to do something drastic about my health for myself and my family.
My initial goals were to be able to get off the couch and do whatever I wanted to do without feeling tired all of the time. I wanted to improve the life of my family and be vibrant, healthy and full of energy.
What is your motivation for losing weight?
My motivations to lose weight were my family, and getting my life back.

What obstacles have you encountered while losing weight?
Having time to yourself to exercise is sometimes hard when you have children.
An obstacle is preparing proper, healthy, low-calorie food. I have a pretty full-on life, so avoiding take-away food was a huge challenge, especially after a long day at work.
When you have a lot of weight to lose it is easy to be discouraged after a year of calorie counting and failure to meet unrealistic expectations.
Not everybody can lose a kilo a week (especially if there are medical issues involved), but if you are honest with yourself, are doing the best that you can and are not putting on weight, then sometimes that can be good enough.
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?
Make a commitment to yourself and recognise that the weight loss is for yourself. This is a huge step.
Write down all of the reasons why you want to lose weight and how you would like your life to improve.
Keep a diary to help maintain focus and see when you have reached small milestones.
Losing a large amount of weight is a long-term commitment, so keeping it fun and interesting is really important. I try to involve friends, family and my kids in exercising with me to keep my interest and make it easier on myself.
I cut-up and store large amounts of 'staples', such as veggies and rice, which are quick and easy to prepare when I am in a rush.
I cannot say enough about the CalorieKing forums. I have met some amazing people on them, who are so motivating. They help me remember that everyone goes through the same hurdles, and they remind me of why I am trying to lose weight.
How do you feel now that you're achieving success?
I have done so many things in the last few months that I have never done before and as a result my life has completely changed! Being out of plus-size clothes opens the doors to so many shops that it's hard to stop buying new clothes!!
I have more energy. I can, and do, go swimming, ice skating, kayaking and running with my kids now, which I have never done before.
I don't obsess about how I look anymore, and everyday there are so many little achievements that it keeps motivating me to go that extra mile.
How have the products or services offered by CalorieKing.com.au helped you to lose weight?
The CalorieKing Food and Exercise Diary has been invaluable in calculating how much I have exercised and if I can eat a bit of chocolate at the end of the day. I regularly check my BMI and the portion sizes pages to make sure that I am not over-doing it.
The CK blogs and forums are amazing in helping people with the same goals support each other in making huge positive changes in their lives!
