What are your weight-control goals?
I really just want to feel 'normal' - I want to buy clothes from regular stores, walk without tiring and be able to take my kids to the park and play with them instead of watching.
I want to dance at my daughters' weddings, and know that each and everyday I am acheiving all that I can. I want to feel happy, be less self conscious in groups, and be able to have the confidence to meet new people and do new things.
I don't really know what number I want to see on the scales; I just want to be able to look back and say, "I tried my best and I am happy with my efforts."
What is your motivation for losing weight?
I want to see my grandchildren into there 30s and know that I am fit and healthy. I don't want to waste my life. I would like to be able to feel strong, and achieve things I never thought possible. I don't want to get diabetes, heart disease or cancer. I don't want to be a burden to my children. I want to surprise people when I tell them my age. I want to be able to go on a slippery dip and rollerblade. I want to go back to horseriding and not worry about killing the poor animal.
What is your weight-loss method?
I try to record all my food and be realistic about portion control. My whole family has changed their eating habbits - we now eat abourt 10 serves of veggies a day. We eat wholegrains and drink plenty of water. We never buy take-away food any more, and if we have a treat, such as ice cream, we walk to the store to buy it.
Everyday we try to find some form of physical activity to do to keep us active and happy. I have a personal trainer and I visit a dietitian every few months.
Without the help of CalorieKing Australia I would have given up months ago, as I simply did not have a the tools to stay motivated. Together my husband and I have lost over 50 kilos, and the difference is amazing!

What obstacles have you encountered while losing weight?
As a busy working mum with three children, I find that my biggest challenge is having enough time. I normally use Sundays to plan my week and prepare some snacks to keep my head out of the fridge.
Food has been an issue for me most of my life, but in the past few months I have tried to find other avenues to occupy myself, such as exercise. I also find that if I don't plan my day and week, my weight loss plan reduces, and it is much harder to get back on track. Calorie amnesia is a huge challenge for me, as I have been a picker my whole life. Now I can see that every bite does count.
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?
Keep a food diary, find exercise you like and even do some you don't like...exercise is an acquired taste!
Weigh your food, make time for yourself and look at weight-loss not as deprivation, but as a gift - the gift you give yourself so you can have a better life.
Make sure you visit the CalorieKing Australia forums and take advice from people who have been in your shoes. Before I joined CalorieKing Australia I believed I was alone, but now I have friends who care about me as much as I care about them. They inspire me and amaze me with their resilience and determination. Believe in yourself - if I can do it, you can too!
How do you feel now that you're achieving success?
I feel amazing! I am more confident - I used to think I couldn't do it, now I know I can. I get a thrill when people don't recognise me. I feel better, look better and sleep better; there is not one single aspect of my life that has not improved.
My children are healthier, and my husband and I are happier. I used to think if I could just lose weight I would look better and feel better, now I know it's the other way around. I look better because I feel better.
How have the products or services offered by CalorieKing.com.au helped you to lose weight?
The CalorieKing Australia online Food and Exercise Diary has changed my life. Recording my food in a journal used to be a nightmare because I never knew what a 'serving' was. I would eat all day and then discover I had over-eaten; now I plan my day before it happens.
The forums have been a fantastic support too. When I am not perfect there are people who dust me off and stand me back up after I fall down. When I tell them I have failed, they set me straight. They don't expect me to fail, they know I will succeed - maybe not this week or this year, but one day I will achieve all that I aim for.
