What were your weight-control goals?

My weight control goals were to try to distinguish between being hungry and just eating for the sake of eating. My focus has always been a healthy eating plan and never a diet. Diets are restrictive, and I think you will never keep weight off by restricting foods that you love.

What motivated you to lose weight?

I just wanted to look good again! My weight had ballooned since having two children. I was unhappy with my appearance and very unfit.

What was your weight-loss method?

My main weight loss method was a healthy eating plan. I ate mostly well throughout the week, but then allowed myself the occasional treat on the weekends. It's all about balance. I could never have lost weight so successfully if I had sworn off my favourite foods!

I joined a gym and found a passion for fitness that I never thought I had. I love the way exercise makes me feel and look!

What were some obstacles you encountered while losing weight?

My weakness was my love for chocolate, wine and cheese. Social occasions are hard, so I indulge a little but try not to 'pig out' like I once would have.

What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?

Join a gym - it's the best thing I have ever done! I never thought I would love exercising, but I do and it makes me feel fantastic. It allows me not to feel so guilty over that extra piece of cake!

I try to stick to a healthy eating plan and make it a lifestyle change not a diet. Educate yourself about food, be aware of what foods have in them and how many calories they contain.

How do you feel now that you've lost weight?
