What were your weight-control goals?
My health is the most important thing. I've been big since I was born - I was a 12 pound baby. I reached 90 kilos when I was 16-years-old and I stayed this weight until 2004, when my knees gave me problems. The doctor told me that if I didn't lose weight, I would need a knee operation. I don't like operations, so I decided to lose weight.
What motivated you to lose weight?
I want to grow old with a healthy body and mind. I want to enjoy activities like healthy people can, such as outdoor activities. I don't want to have any health problems because of being overweight. I want to live longer.
What was your weight-loss method?
My main weight loss method was counting calories. I believe in calorie input vs calorie output. I've tried nearly every diet without counting calories, but they never worked.
I am more active than I used to be, and I combine this with healthy eating. I still give myself treats now and then.

What were some obstacles you encountered while losing weight?
My job is an obstacle. I am a chef, so I work around food all the time. Luckily I don't own a chocolate shop, because chocolate is my weakest point!
What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?
- Keep track of your food intake and exercise in your CalorieKing Food and Exercise Diary.
- Drink at least eight glasses of water a day.
- Keep being active, even if you are not a member of a gym. Small amounts of physical activity throughout the day also all add up to make a difference.
- Take it easy sometimes, and smell the roses along the way.
- Being too hard and strict on yourself is not sustainable long-term. Slow and steady is key for me.
How do you feel now that you've lost weight?
I feel great and I have more energy. I've never felt healthy and happy like this in my whole life (and I'm in my 30s)! Nothing can replace being healthy.
How have the products or services offered by CalorieKing.com.au helped you to lose weight?
I use the CalorieKing Food and Exercise Diary book and online. I also use Allan Borushek's Calorie Fat & Carbohydrate Counter book. I like to visit the CalorieKing forums, where I get support from other members. I use CK's food database, read the CK University and CK articles.
