What were your weight-control goals?I was interested mainly in avoiding the health problems that have plagued many members of my family: heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc. I want to be around to see my grandchildren, and even my great great grandchildren, if possible. A healthier lifestyle is one step towards achieving that goal. What motivated you to lose weight?I was sick and tired of being out of breath, and tired and sluggish all the time. I knew my diet was a major contributor to those feelings and it was time to make a change! What was your weight-loss method?I began just by cutting soft drinks out of my diet and cutting back on the amount of fat I was using for cooking etc. I would also walk for short periods. At first, all I could manage was about 5 minutes, but I gradually built up to 45 minutes, three times a week. I also joined a local gym for toning.
