What were your weight-control goals?

I was interested mainly in avoiding the health problems that have plagued many members of my family: heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc. I want to be around to see my grandchildren, and even my great great grandchildren, if possible. A healthier lifestyle is one step towards achieving that goal.

What motivated you to lose weight?

I was sick and tired of being out of breath, and tired and sluggish all the time. I knew my diet was a major contributor to those feelings and it was time to make a change!

What was your weight-loss method?

I began just by cutting soft drinks out of my diet and cutting back on the amount of fat I was using for cooking etc. I would also walk for short periods. At first, all I could manage was about 5 minutes, but I gradually built up to 45 minutes, three times a week. I also joined a local gym for toning.

What were some obstacles you encountered while losing weight?

My family was and still are, very supportive. Hubby even began a weight-loss program with me. My main obstacle was from friends who were worried that I was 'ill' or 'losing too much weight' but on the whole, most people were encouraging and supportive.

What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?

Just keep at it. It's not easy, and it doesn't happen overnight, but it will happen if you keep persevering against all the odds.

How do you feel now that you've lost weight?

I feel like a new person! People can't believe that my 'before' photo is really me.

How have the products or services offered by helped you to lose weight?

I used the online food database heaps to find out the values of foods and drinks. Even though I wasn't a member until recently, this website has played a major part in my lifestyle changes.
