What are your weight-control goals?

My goal was to be within a healthy weight range of 73-80kg. I am currently just over 3 kgs off being in the 70-80kg range. I also wanted to be a healthy weight before my family submitted our application to adopt a second child through inter-country adoption. I have achieved this and feel much more hopeful that we will be approved to adopt a second child.

What is your motivation for losing weight?

To be healthier and feel good about myself.  I want to be a good role model for my 6 year old daughter and to be around to see her grow up.

What is your weight-loss method?

I have cereal for breakfast, a salad sandwich for lunch and meat and veges for dinner. I only have one glass of juice a day and otherwise only drink water. I have fruit for a snack. I walk for 40 minutes, four times a week, and do a gym workout at home 3 days per week.

What obstacles have you encountered while losing weight?

I realised that in order to lose weight I had to learn to respect myself. And I found that after I resolved to make my health and happiness a priority, nothing was much of an obstacle for me.

My husband has been fantastic. He is very supportive and packs me a healthy salad lunch each day and is right alongside me when I exercise on the weekends. My biggest challenge has been detaching my emotions from food. Previously, when I was tired or emotional I would eat the wrong foods. My friends have also been fantastic and very supportive.

What tips do you have for others who are trying to lose weight?

Just take one step at a time. Don't let the bigger picture overwhelm you.

How do you feel now that you're achieving success?

Fantastic! I am really proud that I have achieved something I once thought impossible.

How have the products or services offered by helped you to lose weight?

I love CalorieKing University and the forums. I also love being able to record my measurements and weight: to be able to chart my progress and to see at a glance just how much weight I've lost over the last few months.
