This apple sauce is delicious and makes a healthy alternative to store-brought sauces.

Ingredients:

4 pork butterfly steaks, lean

1 Tbsp olive oil

1 onion, chopped

2 garlic clove, crushed

4 apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced

1 Tbsp soy sauce

2 Tbsp white vinegar

1 Tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp ground coriander

1 tsp cornflour

1 water

1 freshly ground black pepper, to taste


Directions:

Place steaks under hot grill. Grill for about 5 - 6 minutes each side or until just cooked and golden.

Meanwhile, brush the base of a pan with olive oil. Place onion and garlic in pan. Cook until light gold in colour. Add apples, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar and ground coriander. Cook, stirring, until apples are soft.

Mix cornflour with a little water to make a paste. Add to apple sauce. Cook, stirring, until thick. Serve hot grilled pork steaks with sauce. Accompany with steamed green vegetables and sautéed field mushrooms, if desired.
