Reposting to motivation thread!!!

Hi, having a think about my behavours of late and I'm finding it hard to motivate myself over a long period of time.

I set a goal in Feb to be around the 64kg mark by my birthday in July giving my a heap of time to lose about 10kgs at about half a kilo a week.

Well now fast forward a few months and I have yoyo'd up and down one kilo every week. With only 10 weeks to go till my birthday goal, and still with 10kgs to lose. I realy feel that I've lost achiving that goal already.

I keep using excuses like, I worked out realy hard yesterday so I can eat that or not exercise today. I'm realy not as big as other people and I'm realy just average. When in reality I hate looking at photos of myself now because I am that big.

So I guess I'm asking is it still achivable? How can I stay motovated for longer than 2 days in a row? And what do I do to get to goal? Silly question in a way, stay within cals, do exercise and do it for 7 days a week not 2 days a week.

Thanks for listening

Lisa, I've never considered myself a 'leave things til the last minute' sort of person because I would always start assignments straight away and have them done before the due date. But that seems to apply only to study - for the rest of my life I'm discovering just how good I am at procrastinating and how I need very short term deadlines to get me moving (eg. DH's BAS is due in 4 days - so now I just have to enter all of the march invoices, can't put it off any more!)

My wedding was a great motivator - but only when it started looming close. We'd booked more than a year and a half ahead and I'd bought my dress 14 months before - it fit, but I needed to lose 5-7kgs for it to look fab and figured with more than a year to move the weight it would be easy - nuh-uh. Budged about a kilo in that time and thankfully someone put me onto CK about 6 weeks before the wedding and I shifted another 4 and a bit kgs just in time.

I'd been exercising all year, but it wasn't until I used the food diary with 100% honesty that I realised that I was eating back every cal burnt x3! Having the pressing deadline really helped and now I'm trying to set myself new deadlines in the very near future. It's a bit harder now I'm well into a healthy weight zone as the weight just is not shifting as fast, but still losing 300-400g a week after a little plateau, so enough to keep me from going back into old habits.

So your dealine is close now! No more mucking around. Even when you have a 'bad' day - enter everything you eat into the food diary and face facts, you are eating too much to lose weight. Also start thinking about what your next goal will be after your birthday.

Thanks KayBee and well done on getting down for your wedding! the 64kgs what I was before I fell preg with #3 thats why it was my birthday goal with baby #3 turning 1 next month. My end goal is 59kgs thats what I was before I had any kids and its also in the middle of the healthy range for my height.

I have the exact same goal as you!! Lose 10 kilos by my birthday in July haha. I don't know if I will get there but I'm alsways trying hard to work towards it...even if I am 69.9 it will still be an achievement to me.

I'm not perfect...I have my off days. Just yesterday I ate so much at lunch I felt sick and could barely walk lol. I ate so much it lasted me through right til breakfast this morning haha. God damn it tasted so good though!

If you log your food everyday and do at least 30mins of exercise per day there is absolutely no reason for you not to achieve your goal! With the deadline looming maybe it will motivate you to not eat that piece of chocolate or add the extra 10 mins to your workout. Your body reacts to everything you do so do it right!

Please keep me updated!!

Hi,

The best weapon you can use is to honestly use the food diary & get yourself some digital scales for your food. It's the best thing I did.

Your goals sound pretty healthy. I was carrying a bit more weight than usual when I got preg at 74kgs - with bub in my belly I went over 100kgs (well stopped weighing myself when the scales said 99!) and was 91 when I got out of hospital. Despite breastfeeding, I found it really hard to move my baby weight and it took me about a year and a half to get to 75kgs.

We're hoping to TTC again soon and I'm determined to be a lot healthier starting out than with DD - I know it will make things easier down the track! (that's my current motivation goal!) It does get hard some days to motivate yourself when you look around and your size is normal - but that's a problem with our overweight society, not within us.

Just do what you can, no more excuses, as Kel said use the diary honestly weighing everything and if you're a kilo or 2 short on the day don't beat yourself up - just know that the journey doesn't stop at your birthday. I'm sure if you keep up the exercise and drop a bit chunk of your 10kgs you'll look fab for any woman 1 year after having a baby anyhow!

KayBee TTC is a great motivation good luck with it! And thanks so much for the words of encouragement :) I know I will get back there It just takes a bit, with my first two I dropped back to 62-65kgs both times and I was feeling healthy and fit at that weight. I think I've just gotten lazy this time around, last time I walked everywhere (helped that we only had one car then too).

Kel I have filled it out and been honest the last two days :) and even though I'm in my cal range I realy need to cut down the fat%

Kimedian wow we are close in weight and goal my bday is the 7th so I have 10weeks and I think I'm going to give it a good go to at least start this weight moving lol.. congrats on the loss you've had so far and good luck with your july goal!!! keep me posted too.....
