Michelle I am the same! I've had all these people from high school contacting me, as well as a heap of other people who are friends of friends. I think they're just trying to bump up their numbers - if I saw these people down the street they still wouldn't talk to me, so why would I want to be their Facebook friend?

Im pretty new to facebook. My brother convinced me to join. I have to say that I am pleased I did because now I can chat to my relatives in england on a daily basis and I don't have to sit and write emails and then wait days for one back. Years ago we did use messenger but we had a lot of trouble with it and the spreading of viruses through it. So for me it has been great in that aspect. I have had a few contacts from school, but if it has been someone that didn't talk to me at school then I just decline their friend request

That video is so true!! I once tried to decline a friend request from a boy at school who I hardly knew at school but have run into a few times subsequently and who has been sleasy/creepy. He sent me a new friend request and a message asking why I declined!!! So I caved and confirmed the request. Then the other day he started instant messaging me and was sleasy/creepy. I am so pathetic that I din't just block him...

I love facebook - but the new chat function is the devil. It's one thing to read the occasional news-feed about your people you know from school etc, it's another when they start sending you instant messages.

I'm pretty careful who I make friends with in facebook, and I barely use any of the extra application things. People are forever wanting me to give them flowers and do stupid surveys and stuff! Such time wasters! But I do like staying in touch with friends back in OZ.
