For the first time my fingers got all puffy while on my run (*cough cough* failed run) today. It was a struggle for me, but I didn't clench my fists. Not sure what else it could have been. Anyone got any suggestions?

I would love to know the answer to this too!

It used to happen to me when I did a lot of hiking. I couldn't wear rings as they would cut into me after a while.

Was it cold? Extremes of temperature (hot or cold) can make your fingers swell during exercise (feet too, but we don't often notice them) The other thing that pops to mind is water/sodium balance... If you drink either a lot of water or not enough, in conjunction with not enough salt or too much, it can lead to temporary puffiness and swelling of extremities. Unless its painful or takes a long time to subside, I don't think its anything to worry about :)

Cheers,

Can be electrolyte balance, can be dehydration, can be simply having your hands hanging, not doing much for long periods.

If it's from the cold - try wearing gloves. Otherwise it could be from having your hands hang down so long (it used to happen to me hiking). Try holding your hands above your heart every once in a while as you run and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks guys, I think it may have been the salt/water thing. I know I haven't been drinking enough water lately with the cold snap, and can tell my salt intake is too high because I've been bloated a lot lately too.
