I woke up this morning with the intention of getting lots of vegetables in. Well I did that!

Breakfast : Fruit Salad
Morning tea: roast vegetable salad
300g carrot sticks and some hommus
Lunch: left mine on the counter so a big salad sandwich from healthy habits - no mayo but avocado
Roast vegetable salad
Dinner : 2 tacos guzman gomez - no black beans

Its the week before TTOM and I always get really hungry hence the large amount of carrots. According to my diary im way over for my day and cant get out of going out for dinner tonight.

Have a I really blown it?

when I added this all in

Can you make your food diary public so we can take a look. Looking at your day it doesn't seem too bad to me so I'm interested in the actual figures in your diary.

Also advise your stats - height, weight, gender, activity level, what has CK recommended for you in terms of cals?

You can't blow this unless you say eff it and do nothing but sit on your couch dialling pizzas for the rest of your life

Have you turned orange yet?

The calories in one day do not matter nearly as much as the calories over a week/month/year. Don't overdo it tonight, don't panic. Get ticks tomorrow.

(I am assuming your diary says you are way over your suggested calories but your post trailed off, if that is not the case or you are trying to eat less than suggested or something then none the above may apply)

It is hard to comment without viewing the portion sizes in your diary.

Assuming you had typical lunchbar portions you probably did tip over a bit.

Fruit salad while an ok choice for breakfast can be very calorie laden (portioning comes into play here) and with some people does not offer the long term satisfaction that a balanced protein and good quality carb breakfast does which could explain why you needed a large morning tea.

Roast vegetables tend to be root vegetables which carry more of a calorie punch than say bok choy. They may also have been cooked in lots of oil, a little oil or dry roasted and that will make a difference. As you've called it a salad it may be dressed or it may have been mixed with something so again it is hard to tell exactly.

300g of carrots won't do too much damage but the quality and quanity of the hommus might have.

A big salad sandwich could be a great choice or a crappy choice depending on the amount of filling, the size and type of bread and obviously the amount of avocado you used. Another roast vegetable salad brings up the same questions as above.

There are huge variations on Guzma Gomez taco varieties and without knowing how big they were it would be hard to judge as the nutritional information is given per 100g (which would be a very small taco) and you don't mention if you had cheese or sour cream.

Overall though it is much better to go over with vegetables than with fish and chips or a family block of Cadbury's so take a deep breath, sleep well tonight and wake up tomorrow with portion control and vegetables on your list.

I have only started back to recording my food yesterday (after managing to maintain my weight loss for a few months, only for it to gradually creep up 4kg, i had set myself a 3kg limit....so was horrified to see that I was back into the 70's) its very very very easy to underestimate the amount you are eating if your not weighing out your food. There are something i can guess the weigh within a gram or 2 (cheese is one of these) but there are alot of meals/food where if i dont weigh the ingredients out my portions can be up to double what they should be (eg: its very easy to have too much rice or mashed potato with your meal) Even something you think is quite healthy (homemade hommus is a favourite atm, can add up quickly if you dont portion control it.

knowing that you are over you need to either do a big workout to try and bring the overall cal's down, or re-think your meals for future days.

Its a journey and there are days where its hard and you think stuff it.....or i stuff up, whether you let that dictate the rest of the week/life is up to you. Personally i say oh well i had a crappy day/s, move on and get back into it.

Good luck

Thank you Helbent 65 - just what I needed to hear after a total lack of discipline last night! Should also be an encouragement to BIRTHDAYLOSS. We just need to recognize that we are, after all, human.
