I hold grave concerns over the type of people running our country, these people out outwardly dishonest (as opposed to sly and sneaky, which I guess is just as bad anyway) and they are completely disloyal to one another. What does that say about their loyalties to the people of Australia?

Our government is one big clusterf*ck and I really, really despise how this country is going. I used to feel a lot more patriotic and in love with Australia than I do now, and I think that's very sad. Once upon a time I would never ever want to live anywhere else, but now I don't feel like I want to raise my children under such a corrupt government (and I realise most if not all governments are corrupt in some shape or form, but so outwardly?).

Agreed - there is no such thing as "what the people want" anymore. The politicians just don't care. They run things in their own little view that they may share with a select few - and completely disregard the public.

I too used to be proud to be Australian. Not that I'm not proud anymore, but the enthusiasm is gone...

I am now forced to vote Liberal in the next election though. Labour needs a complete reshuffle - new leader, new backups/deputies/etc...

I don't know much about politics, but atm it's more like a schoolyard than a sohpisticated adult environment...

I think people need to get away from the major parties. They've had their time, and are now just abusing the system

Tony Abbott may not be different but the Liberal party is.

At the moment I dont trust any of the Labor party, they have all been involved in leaks, cover ups,backstabbing and been disloyal to the people of Australia. How can a party that fights amongst themselves and cant all agree, be trusted to run a country?

I think its time we give Liberal a chance and leave Labor to rethink and clean up their act!

I refuse to vote for Gillard, which leaves me no option but to vote Liberal. I voteed Greens last election and they wasted my vote. I voted Labor because of Rud previous to that and both times my vote has been wasted and ignored.

Tony Abbott is going to be just the same. I hate how our government is carrying on at the moment too. I used to like the democrats - until they sold out and died =P

We need a different choice. I really think the last election told the story - everyone pretty much said "meh" and it hasnt improved since then

Problem is we don't get to decide *Who* leads - I will not vote liberal, but I really dont want labor in power with it the way it is now either

why keep voting for the Coalition or Labor? They're not doing a good job and haven't for years. It's time to show your displeasure and vote alternatively. There's no guarantee that things will be any better but nothing will change if you don't change how you vote.

There is no viable alternative. The backstabbing will start once the election gets closer. I'm no psychic, but I doubt Tony Abbott will lead the Liberals to the next election. It's too far out for THEM to start backstabbing yet. They also have a great track record of infighting. If only there was a viable alternative to both these major parties. You can vote for the other parties, but they will never have the numbers to run government so it's pretty much a protest vote anyway.

Unfortunately I think that party only goes for senate seats, so has no impact on who leads the country. For the house of rep's even the independents have shown they can't be trusted.

I had to laugh that the AEC lost me on the eletrol role!

They said I got removed but cant understand how. I only got informed with 15minutes to enrol before the cut off for state election enrolments. So im unable to vote!!

There was a website (can't remember it now), with links to each of the parties websites and election forms you could fill and print out. So instead of choosing the one preference and having them decide where your vote goes if you lose you could do all the research you wanted and then take the sheet in to copy so your preferences go where you want them.

It was quite handy.
